I was down at Fort Worden for an event and got there a little early. Walking out on the dock to the Marine Sciences Center, I spotted a belted kingfisher sitting on the railing, watching the water for dinner. I was a little surprised that it let me get as close as I did. They are pretty camera shy.
I was taken by surprise and just shot with the settings that were on the camera. By the time I stopped to adjust the settings and get to a more reasonable ISO and shutter speed combination, the bird was gone.

Lovely! Point and shoot has it’s advantages but I understand a photographer’s disappointment not to be able to adjust the camera for a different photo.
