Mountians and Ships

Cascade Mountains and the ferry Kennewick by Allan J Jones Photograhpy
Cascade Mountains and the ferry Kennewick

Both images are taken from Fort Worden St Park in Port Townsend. The first image is of the WA State Ferry Kennewick on it’s way to Port Townsend from Coupeville. It’s a great boat ride…. especially when the weather is clear and you can see the Cascades in one direction and the Olympics in the other.

USS Robert Johnson and Mt Baker by Allan J Jones Photography
USS Robert Johnson and Mt Baker

This is the USS Robert Johnson with Mt Baker in the background. The discontinuity between the natural and the industrial/military attracted me to taking this image. I don’t usually take photos of military vessals … don’t want to be accused of being a spy!

Just a note: The ship was named after a young black marine who was serving in Viet Nam when a grenade landed in his unit’s foxhole. He through himself on the grenade, saving the lives of the others in his unit.

    1. Thanks, Marcus.
I had an issue with Outlook and wasn’t getting notice of your blogs for a bit. I fixed that by subscribing with a different email account… but was wondering if I missed the results of your film work.
I took the used Hasselblad in for getting refurbished and get it back (finally) this week. They just had one guy who works on the old film models and he only works Thursday afternoons. There seems to be lots of waiting involved with film.

      1. Oh yes, you didn‘t miss anything because I‘m waiting for two weeks now for my developed Ilford film….flying to the US tomorrow it will be at least another week 🙁
