Deer at Hurricane Ridge

Young Buck

I was recently up at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park and several deer wandered by. A young buck following a young doe. They were unconcerned with the constant stream of hikers going by. While they do have some natural predators (cougar), people aren’t in that category. (but their cars are)

  1. Nice up and close. So why do they call it Hurricane Hill or Ridge. Hurricanes never made up that far north in the Pacific, the water is too cold in San Diego to support a storm. Just curious, I can google it and find out.

    1. It is an very exposed high ridge and gets a lot of (low end) hurricane force winds. Though you are correct, the storms aren’t classified as hurricanes
