I was on top of the South Summit of Mt Engels when I took these photos. Mt Stuart is the highest non-volcanic peak in Washington State and provides some challenging climbs in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area of the Central Cascades. I prefer not having to carry a lot of ropes and hardware … I took a climbing course long ago, but mostly to know enough to keep myself out of harm’s way.
I’ve always liked the clouds that were coming in. A storm moving through. I was glad it was a day hike.
Beautiful. When were you there? And what camera did you use?
I’ve been there several times.
The North Fork Teanaway was one of my favorites when I lived in Seattle.
At the head of the valley, you can walk the meadows up to the south summit of Ingals Peak. Did that a bunch, a nice day hike if you were camping in the valley.
This shot was shot back in the ‘80’s on film with my Minolta.
Did it once with Poleski, but not this trip.
I went up last in 2007 (I think) when I was playing hooky from work in Ellensburg.
