In mid-February 2017 , I spent a couple days at the Lake Quinault Lodge, a favorite of mine. The first day was clear and sunny and we took my canoe out of the lake.

The next day we watched a storm coming in (see this post for a view of the  storm coming in) and the lodge lost power (at least until they got the backup generator system up and runnin). It rained all night and was still raining the next day. We headed out to Kalaloch hoping for a break in the weather to walk the beach. There wasn’t any beach walking that day. Between the tide being in and the waves rolling logs up the beach, we opted to stay on high ground. The view of the storm was dramatic.
