Well, I guess this isn’t such a young buck … maybe 4 years old … but it wasn’t very large. He was wandering around in Fort Worden State Park. Even the bucks are used to people and aren’t as skittish as they typically are in the National Forest (for example). And without any natural enemies (except auto traffic), they numbers are way too high … so they attack my hydrangeas and fuchsias for a snack.
Al, have you tried “Deer Scram”?
I buy it through Amazon and it works really well keeping the deer out of my daylilies, my hostas, and other plants that are in the front yard where everything is fair game.
My hydrangeas are in the backyard and are protected by a very high fence.
I have also planted large lavender bushes by the targeted “snacks”and they really dislike the smell and tend to stay away from wherever they are.
Good luck with that!!
Thanks, Lynne, I see what I can figure out.
Very nice buck, even if they do eat your fushia.
Healthy, happy and free…
Thanks, Lynne, for the lavender information, I was wondering.
