Lake Algae

Capitol Lake Algae by Allan J Jones Photography
Capitol Lake Algae

Capitol Lake is manmade and filling with sediment. The authorities involved are undecided how to resolve the problems, since any solution is expensive, including letting the lake revert to a tidal basin. In the meantime, large areas of algal scum develop every summer. I found this large patch directly under a walking bridge and thought the patterns were interesting.

      Wish I’d painted it…
but I’m happy enough with the photo.
