Independence, California is a small town a few miles northwest of Death Valley National Park. I was walking around and was struck by this weathered old fence.
They don’t seem to make fences the way they used to … This would have been a challenge to keep painted. We had one similar, but less ornate, in our yard where I grew up. It was my job to paint it several times… and it was very time consuming. Perfect for keeping a boy out of trouble. Well, at least some trouble … there was still plenty to go around.

Love it in black and white because the age shows.
