These ghost flowers were growing alongside the N Fork Quinault Trail in the Olympic National Park. They are non-chlorophyl plants using decaying plant material for their food supply.
I was carrying a point-and-shoot (to minimize my pack weight) and the forest canopy was dense enough that I had to use flash to take the image. (not my favorite solution)
