Hooded Merganser

Hooded Merganser

What can I say? I think the Hooded Merganser is one of the coolest birds around. Style-wise, that is. Another shot taken at the Nisqually Natural Wildlife Refuge (AKA Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge).

A reminder:

I have a book available on the Kindle site. It is a memoir titled 60 Years of Hiking in the Olympics. It has over 100 photographs and covers more than 100 different hikes and backpacks. I have it priced to share at $2.99 (US).

      1. They fit right in with the “48ers” – totally cool and a little bit weird…
ordered your book…now if I can just find my Kindle…

      2. The problem with using the Kindle is that you’d only see the images in B&W. Laptop, computer, tablet or even phone would give you color.

        You still on Live Oak?

  1. I never heard of or saw a Hooded Merganser. By the way, they are cool-looking. When I performed a search on the Hooded Merganser, they can be seen in the Northwest and eastern part of America, but I never saw one before.

    1. The other thing is that is the male during mating season. They aren’t as distinctive the rest of the year.
