The Upper Dungeness Trail runs from Olympic National Forest lands into the Buckhorn Wilderness area. I backpacked in recently to enjoy the solitude and quiet … (which would have been easier if there weren’t so many other folks wanting the same thing). But it’s a wonderful trail without much elevation gain … at least in the section I was hiking. The area has never been logged, but I suspect there was a fire at some point, since it really doesn’t have the feel of an old growth forest.

Beautiful photos. I can almost smell the forest.
I guess you could call your recent hike “solitude with friends.”
Very nice!
