One of the common plants of spring in the Olympic National Park is vanilla leaf. The raceme (the flowers) grow on a separate stem from the leaf structure. Supposedly, the leaves have a faint vanilla smell. I haven’t been convinced.

This was taken on the Lake Quinault Nature Trail. For those looking at the specs below … and wondering … no, I didn’t hand hold this image. I used a tripod. Even with the sun, the light wasn’t that intense.
