Desert Rain

Desert Rain

Out in the middle of Nevada, a cold front came through and brought dramatic clouds. We pulled off the main highway onto a sideroad and I captured the rain showers in the distance. If it hadn’t been for the clouds, it certainly wouldn’t be a as interesting a picutre.

When you see dramatic weather, stop and shoot.

Curves

I liked the repetition of curves in this. and the contrast between the foreground curves and the background verticals.

This was an example of a scene where the colors didn’t provide anything additional. I try to look at images and see if the colors are critically important. If not, I try switching to Black and White. Sometimes it doesn’t work in B&W. This was a stronger image without the color.

Madison Falls Picnic Area (Winter)

The trailhead parking for accessing the Elwha River road is the (small) Madison Falls parking lot. Fortunately, in the winter, the traffic is not heavy. I was returning from my hike up to the bridge (about 6 miles round trip) carrying cameras and tripod … and the mists were moving through the valley. There are a couple of guys with their dog over on the picnic table to the left. They were admiring the view below:
