I’m continuing my work on assembling a collection of dried flower photos. I like this one … it is just a single exposure … not a ‘focus stack’ like some of the other ones I’ve posted. (If you are far enough away, you can get good focus by using a small f/stop.) You can see the bouquet this was part of in the image below.
The sign called this a lily pond. But it seemed strange that there were no water lilies.
I was pleased to see some poppies that weren’t just the ‘standard’ yellow California poppies that are so common now in western Washington. Nothing wrong with the California ones, but they are pretty invasive and just take over large areas.
When I use “Crop” here, I’m referring to the photo technique, not the agricultural term. These images are both from the same exposure, just cropped differently. I couldn’t decide which I liked better, so included them both. Looking at them on the screen at this moment, my favorite is #2.
This is one of my oldest digital images … shot with an Olympus E-10 over 20 years ago. I love the dimples in the water’s surface from the reeds and grasses. An example too of how an overcast sky can provide good light … a clear sky with a sharp reflection would have resulted in a much different image.
