These are anchor rings for artillery pieces that were used pre-WWI … The artillery was never fired except in practice. These are at Fort Worden State Park … and there were two other forts (Casey and Flagler) that together guarded the entrance to Puget Sound and the naval stations and boatyards in Seattle, Bremerton and Everett.
All these were used in the emplacement shown at the bottom. I thought they made an interesting study.
A couple more photos taken with my Holga. You can see the vignetting in the top photo in the upper corners. That comes from the lens being a single piece of plastic. The image below was taken in the downtown Seattle Library. It’s an amazing spot for taking photos.
This was taken with a Holga: a cheap plastic camera that is today’s version of a Kodak Brownie.
I have also cropped a lot of the image, which made it even softer.
The weather was changing and there was a lot of mist in the air as I was taking the ferry into Seattle. In the distance, you could see Mt Rainier, but it wasn’t a strong enough picture element to create a focus point. The bridge in the distance is the West Seattle bridge crossing over the Duwamish River… on the left is Harbor Island and some of the cranes used for loading ships (freight and cruise).

In my last post, I mentioned a new typewriter sales and repair shop opening up in my home town. I was able to take some interesting photos there, including this one from the underside of a unit that was being repaired and was out of its case. I liked the quasi-abstract industrial design.
