I was going through some past photos and came across this one that improved dramatically when I spent some time with it in Lightroom. It was from a backpack trip up the Elwha River valley in the Olympic National Park a few years ago. A nice hike … especially since it was before the road washed out and so was 10 miles shorter than it would be today. Just one of the many unnamed streams.
This lovely little falls is located on the Constance Pass trail in the Olympic National Park. There are so many of these falls scattered throughout the park that most have no names. This stream is an unnamed tributary to Sunny Brook.
Recently my friend Gary and I rode our eBikes up the Dosewallips Road past the washouts and up to the Dosewallips Campground … a distance of about 6.5 miles (each way). We had great weather and were just doing a day trip … although regular readers may note that another friend and I have made several trips up the road backpacking.
I carried my camera and the day was a great success, based on how much fun we had. During the bouncy ride, I lost my lens cap, but that’s why they sell extras, isn’t it?
Sol Duc Falls is located a mile or so from the Sol Duc Ranger Station in northwest section of the Olympic National Park. There is a bridge across the river at that point … connecting to the High Divide trail, one of the most popular backpacking routes (reservations required). Note the person in the top right corner of the image.
