This was taken from a viewpoint on the road to Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. The city in the distance is Victoria on Vancouver Island. You can see the mill in Port Angeles in the foreground below the cloud bank. The logged area is outside the Park.
This earth sculpture of a resting mossy Buddha is in Beacon Hill Park in Victoria B.C.. I don’t know any of the history around it or who the artist is, but it is striking and I really enjoy the moss covering.
The First People’s Gallery is one of the three permanent galleries of the Royal BC Museum (the other two are the Natural History Gallery and the Becoming BC Gallery). Unfortunately, there was a large section of the gallery that was closed while under redesign. The lightning conditions were difficult (as you may be able to tell), so color rendition is left to your imagination. I thought it was a great display and would recommend anyone take it in if they were in Victoria.
One of the things that I miss with the virus having closed the Canadian border is the ability to visit Victoria, BC. The trip is just a ferry ride … and the cost is cheap if you walk onboard … and the ferry terminal is in the main harbor in Victoria.
The old areas of town are a great location for photo shoots. Plenty of interesting visuals. I loved this claustrophobically narrow alley and one of the doorways that opens off it.
