An interesting pattern of mid-size rocks along the shore at Fort Worden State Park, exposed at low tide. It’s much easier to walk on the sand higher up the beach.
The first photo is looking up the Crooked River from the overlook at Smith Rocks State Park, while the second is looking downriver from the trail running down to the footbridge crossing the river. The park is a local rock climbing Mecca and offers some great hiking. Besides the dramatic scenery.

I came across these on a small area of rocky beach in downtown Port Townsend. There were some additional cairns and I was amazed that they have remained for a significant period of time. I have done some rock piling … mostly while lazing around camp on a backpack on a river bed. But nothing that got as tall as these. (of course, river rocks tend to be more rounded, adding to the challenge)

While the gull is the ‘focus’ of attention I really was drawn to the colors of the rocks and the water around the rocks. I may have to return and take more photos of the rocks. Hopefully I can do that, without the gull photo-bombing me!
(by the way, the gull was walking, not standing still with it’s leg in the air)
