These two shots were taken from the middle of the bridge across the Quinault River, just outside the Olympic National Park (in the Olympic National Forest). The road crosses to provide access to the North Shore Road and the North Fork Quinault trail from the South Shore Road. It isn’t too far from the upper end of Lake Quinault and the whole area is in the Quinault Rain Forest.
This image was taken in the Quinault valley along the South Shore Road. This is in the Olympic Rain Forest. I was struck by what a wonderful growth pattern this old tree has … it clearly has had open area around it so that none of the limbs have been broken off. And a nice bench to sit on to enjoy it.
Bridge Creek is in the Lake Quinault area … and this was taken in the Bridge Creek Campground. I used a tripod and shot at 1/13th of a second, at f/16 and ISO 100 using my Nikon D850. I had gone to take a photo of a small falls that I had shot previously, but there were logs that had washed down and were blocking the view of the falls to where it wasn’t very photogenic.
I couldn’t find a name for this tributary of Graves Creek … which is itself a tributary of the East Fork Quinault River. I’m sure if I got a detail map it would show a name, but I don’t have anything with more detail than a typical hiking map. It’s a nice stream, though.
These are both taken in the rain forest up the East Fork of the Quinault River valley at Graves Creek Campground in Olympic National Park. I am always impressed with the way the trees get covered with moss.
