Mt Baldy
This photo was taken from the Slab Camp trail out of Deer Park. The trail is one of my favorites, since the trailhead starts up in the subalpine area … one of two locations where you can access the high country in the Olympic National Park by road. The other road goes to Hurricane Ridge and is paved … and has many more visitors. I prefer Deer Park due to the fewer visitors … a result of the 8 miles of narrow, winding, steep dusty/muddy road.
The valley below is the middle section of the Gray Wolf River.
Beach Walk
This is looking north along the beach from the Kalaloch Lodge property in Olympic National Park. It’s a very popular spot, year round. I love to go and walk the beach and listen to the waves rolling in.
Ocean Sunset
I don’t usually convert sunset photos to Black and White … since they are often photos that are “about” the colors. This one, however, had such interesting patterns and lines that I thought the color was distracting. (and, this isn’t likely to burn, either)
The location is Kalaloch on the beach of the Olympic National Park.
Smoke from Bear Gulch
We took a trip down to the Lake Cushman viewpoint to see what the smoke from the Bear Gulch fire looked like. It wasn’t a column of smoke as I had imaged. See what the view was like without the smoke, below (and a different time of year).
