
The fresh greens of grasses and the new leaves of spring are a wonderful respite from being cooped up inside for most of the last two months.

Mill Creek trail in Inyo National Forest in Northern California crosses some very fine grassy meadows. It’s a nice enough trail, but it takes a lot of driving on rough roads to get there. On the drive in, we saw a blonde colored black bear running across the road. No chance for a photo, unfortunately.
Photo from Bloedel Reserve (Bainbridge Island, WA). It is a challenge getting a good photo of tall grass. I was lucky to have pretty bright sun (through some cloud cover) and could keep the ISO at 100, while shooting at 1/250 of a second to stop the motion of the grass from the light breeze with an aperture of f/8.0 to keep depth of field,
