Menzies Larkspur is a fairly common alpine wildflower in the Olympics. This one lives up on the shoulder of Green Mountain.

Salmonberry Flower
Salmonberry’s are common in the valleys of the Olympic National Park. They don’t have the strong flavor of other berries … but they are delicious. Due to the subtle flavor, they often don’t get picked, even right along a busy trail. For those unfamiliar with these, think of a raspberry that is salmon colored (yellow to reddish when ripe, depending on the amount of direct sunlight).
Rhody Blooms
May is a wonderful month for rhododendron blooms. Different varieties are blooming most of the year, but it seems like May is peak for a great number. The image below is a closer view of the bloom on the right above.
Trillium
Nothing says “Spring is Here” to me like seeing the trillium come up. These were growing along the Larry Scott Trail here in Port Townsend. (These are wild ones.) … and the dictionary says the plural is “Trilliums”. Which just sounds odd to me, but not as odd as Trillii.
Cherry (?) Blossoms
I’m not really sure if these are some kind of plum or some kind of cherry. I’ve never seen the fruit it puts out (even though I’ve looked throughout the late spring and early summer. But they are nice, regardless.
