I was downtown and walked out onto the public dock that gives a nice view of what’s going on with the weather and saw the sun hitting the ferry dock. Another day, but the same location, I saw this nice collection of bull kelp.

Waiting for a Ferry — Watching a Sunset
Recently was taking the Edmonds ferry over to Kingston (Washington) to get home after visiting friends in the Seattle area. One of those times when we just missed getting on a ferry and had to wait (only little over 1/2 hour). The advantage was that we were waiting on the dock instead of back in the holding area. This let me walk around, enjoy the pleasant evening and take some photos of the sunset. The individual that is silhouetted standing on the top of the ramp was a ferry worker and I was unable to access that spot, but they provided a nice human interest touch to the image.

Solitude
There isn’t usually much solitude to be found in a ferry terminal, but once in a while there is a lull in the busy push of bodies rushing on or off boats. This is the terminal on Bainbridge Island for the ferry into downtown Seattle.
Sun and Ferry Terminal
This is the Coupeville Ferry Terminal and I was catching the ferry on my way home to Port Townsend, WA. I take photos of crepuscular rays whenever I get a chance … this one has an interesting difference between the left and right sides.
Ferry Ride
My previous post showed the fog bank and shoreline, shot on the ferry from Port Townsend to Coupeville. Once at the Coupeville dock, I left the ferry and bought a return ticket, then walked back on the ferry. The trip time is about 35 minutes each way, so a pleasant excursion at reasonable cost … $1.80 round trip.
