I have wild columbine growing in my garden. Well, it’s wild now. I think the previous owner planted them. They are a blue tinted variety and they spread like weeds. (but they’re prettier) This one was wild and growing in sub-alpine terrain in the Olympic National Park at about 5000 feet.
Shooting wildflowers with a big zoom lens has its challenges. One is that the higher your focal length, the more sensitive you are to movement. With flowers on long stems, you need a very quiet day to keep from having the slightest breeze move your subject. The advantage is the shallow depth of field.
