I have taken more than one image of this collection of shovels. My dad would have thought that someone was using their shovel as a pry-bar to break that many handles out. Of course there are composite handles these days that are almost impossible to break, but they also are not as comfortable to use as a shovel with a wood handle. The wood has some flex to it that the composite does not. It’s pushing that flex too far that breaks the handle, of course.
We were out at Finn River Farm (in Chimacum, Washington, about 10 miles south of Port Townsend) getting some dinner and were waiting outside. It was the first weekend in November and we were very lucky to get a sunny day. Even luckier was to be treated to this natural light show. The other folks that were around didn’t seem to have even noticed. This solar halo occurs when the sunlight is reflected by ice crystals high in the atmosphere.
This old Massey-Harris-Ferguson tractor sits in the field with the old trucks shown in the last post. I especially love the moss growing on the dash. I really hope this tractor is still operational, even if it just mows the field.
I’m a big fan of old trucks … even if they aren’t running anymore. They aren’t ‘dead’ only sleeping. I especially like the Studebaker below.

These two old buildings are neighbors in Chimacum, Washington. I thought the top one would have made a nice chicken house.
