Capitol Lake has a number of sumacs growing along the bank. In the fall, they turn such bright red that they really stand out.

Western Washington has a lot of very nice fall colors. The unfortunate fact is that too often the fall days are cloudy and wet. When there is a sunny day, the colors are enhanced and really pop. This is a tree down at Capitol Lake on one of those days when the sun shone.
