The Rhododendron is the state flower of Washington. Salal and Madrone are allow common … especially the salal. I have a lot of salal growing in my yard (growing wild) and it is a nice ground cover. This was taken along the Larry Scott Trail (a converted rail right-of-way). There is also a leaf or two from the low-growing native blackberry … which make the best pie, by far.
Another bloom from my garden. We have had a record-breaking cold wet spring which has stayed through June (so far). The long range forecast doesn’t look much better. But the flowers like it.
One of the last trillium of the year (at sea level, anyway). I liked the Black and White image better than the color. One of those things that you can feel, even if you can’t explain why.
I posted a different version of this image more than a year ago, but I worked on this one to eliminate the background and I like it a lot more.
Lightroom’s “Select Subject” option provides a quick way to create a mask that you can use to emphasize the subject by reducing the exposure of the background area. This image had a lot of visual distraction from the other blooms in the background. Reducing the background exposure resulted in an image where the subject was clearly identified.
