I just liked the horizontal lines of the shoreline and waves with the vertical lines of the trees.

Crabbing from the Dock
I was walking around downtown Port Townsend (WA) when I saw these two trying to catch crabs from the dock. There was a lot of waiting involved … maybe after I left they were successful. As it was, I watched the crab moving around the netting, but not seem very interested.
This was taken with my Leica Q2 Monochrom … which takes photos only in black and white. This means that there is no Red-Green-Blue filter set in front of the sensor. I really like the images you get …
Eldred Rock Lighthouse
The Eldred Rock Lighthouse is located in Southeast Alaska between Juneau and Haines on Lynn Canal. It is an automated light, so I guess it isn’t really a ‘house’. I took this from the Alaska Marine Highway ferry on a trip to Haines to visit my Aunt. It was May and this was the amount of snow left on the mountains. I did not come back this way, but drove back down the Alaska Highway … a wonderful trip, if you have the time and are interested in being impressed with just how big the country is up there and how far apart towns are.
Below is a photo of Haines as we were sailing past to get to the ferry terminal north of town. When I lived there one winter in the mid-’70’s, I lived just at the foot of the hill on the right edge of the photo. It had a spectacular view of the water and mountains.
Saying Goodbye to 2021
The sun is setting on 2021 … and can’t say I’m all that unhappy about saying goodbye. Political craziness, pandemic restrictions, loss of loved ones, and the list goes on. Not that there weren’t good times… but here’s hoping that 2022 raises the bar a little bit on the ratio of good/bad.
