This nice big bunch of Lupine was right on the top of a small rise … providing a nice separation from the background trees.

Camas Lily
The root of the camas lily was a source of food for native peoples in the Pacific Northwest. They aren’t as common now, since farming and urbanization has claimed so much of the lowland meadow areas.
Columbine
Shooting wildflowers with a big zoom lens has its challenges. One is that the higher your focal length, the more sensitive you are to movement. With flowers on long stems, you need a very quiet day to keep from having the slightest breeze move your subject. The advantage is the shallow depth of field.
Blooms
Bloedel Reserve is great for all the variety of rhododendrons and azaleas they have. I only wish they would label them for us poor photographers.
