I was out for a walk at the beach recently, enjoying the springlike weather. There were a couple of eagles hovering around the top of the bluff, near where they have nested. This one thought there was something for lunch on the shore. Turned out to be a false alarm.
As it left, a gull started following, just in case there was something dropped.
The soft pastels of this sunset reminded me of a Maxfield Parrish image… except for the lack of a young woman in a swing. Not a lot of post production work on this one … it is pretty much the colors that were there.
This was a particularly striking example of crepuscular rays. I enjoy the challenge of trying to cover the high dynamic range that are typically present when crepuscular rays are present. In this case, the foreground was urban and cluttered, so I opted to take it to black.
This was at the ferry dock at Bainbridge Island, across Puget Sound from Seattle. I was meeting a friend coming off the ferry and was treated to a sky show.
A good reminder to keep your eyes up and your camera ready!
