These were inside the Hastings Building (for more details on this historic building, see my post from June 26th) … I didn’t arrange them or move them … not sure how long they have lived there.

There was a huge variety of condition of the rooms in the Hastings Building (for additional info on the Hastings Building, see my previous post). This one was in better condition than most … and the only one I noticed having a fireplace. Not sure that there is any chimney anymore. It was interesting that the glass varied significantly … some was old enough that it showed the typical waviness of old window glass. And much was newer … with less waviness. The windows on the weather side of the building are more susceptible to being blown out during storms and I expect the older glass is more susceptible than the newer panes.

The Hastings Building is sited at the main intersection of Port Townsend, WA. Constructed in 1889 and a Washington State Registered Historic Place, the Hastings Building has retail space in some of the ground floor, but the upper floors are vacant and in need of renovation. It is hoped that the renovation will happen in the near future and will include adding additional 4-star hotel space on the water side (to the right of the image above). If you look at image number 3, the photo #1 was taken on the corner that is in the middle of the photo (on different days). I recently had an opportunity to go upstairs and photograph. Some of those photos will be the next few posts.

The Hastings Building is one of the older buildings in Port Townsend and occupies one of the corners of the main intersection. I walk around a lot downtown … it’s always interesting and there’s no mall anywhere near Port Townsend (for an indoor walking facility).
Unfortunately, the upper floors of the building are in disrepair and vacant. It needs paint and refurbishment. If I only had a couple extra million …
