This is the lighthouse at Point Wilson on Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend. There was just a hint of a rainbow. Fortunately, it wasn’t raining on me.

This is a section of Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, WA. The water is the distance is the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the land in the distance is the southeast corner of Vancouver Island.

I thought it looked like waves of ocean spray were breaking over this trail. Ocean Spray is also called “ironwood” because the wood is so hard. NW native peoples used the wood for such things as arrows and harpoon shafts. It was also used as nails in carpentry before iron was available. It is common from sea level to mid elevations in the Pacific Northwest.

A wonderful treat to see the auroras down this far south (Olympic Peninsula, WA). We drove out to North Beach (just west of Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend) which has a view to the north (duh) getting there about 10 PM and staying for 2 hours. The colors were not nearly so vibrant until you did a 2 second time exposure. Some folks were using their cellphones as ‘viewers’ … which worked well. These were taken with my Nikon D-850 and Zeiss 21mm f/2.8 lens. I shot at ISO 3200 and f/5 or so.
