I knew it as a forest
hiked that trail
then it was clear cut
I saw that, stood in the middle of it
the seed tree they left was broken in half nothing but a snag
it had a northern flicker living in it
took a photo of the male, feeding its young
they planted a mono-culture of genetically similar christmas trees
so now it’s trees again.
but it isn’t a forest.
it’s just trees.
maybe … some day …. it will be a forest again.
