Washington Pass viewpoint

Washington Pass and Liberty Bell

Washington Pass is the route across the North Cascades National Park. The road goes through miles and miles of unlogged forest … a true majestic natural wonder. At the top of the pass there is a side road to a viewpoint overlooking the pass area and Liberty Bell mountain (the jagged peak on the right) … so named because of the huge crack running across its face.

A friend and I drove across the pass the first week it opened back in 1973. (The area was designated as a National Park in October 1968.)

I once again plead guilty for having my ISO set too high. I had been taking photos of flowers blowing in the wind and needed to stop the motion. Then I forgot to change it back.
